Charlie started out young, going to work on a new home construction site when he was 19;  it was there he discovered his talent. Although he liked working new construction, his real passion was in remodeling and working directly and closely with homeowners to help them realize their dreams.

In 1974, Charlie started Westhill, as a small design/build company and continued to grow it into  Seattle areas premier remodeling and custom building company and an award-winning industry leader.  We employ a great team of about 25 people all excelling in their area of expertise.  Charlie’s passion for improving the homes and the lifestyles of our clients and providing top-rated customer satisfaction has fueled Westhill’s success.

As CEO, his responsibilities include leading our Executive Team, spearheading strategic management and directing the corporate culture and company vision. In his “spare time” Charlie also performs the role of Special Projects Manager for the company.

Charlie has always been a strong proponent of bringing professionalism and integrity to the home construction industry. He has remained actively involved in the industry, acting as Chairman of the local MBA (Master Builders Association) Remodelers Council and nationally on the Board of Directors for the NAHB (National Home Builders Association).

Chuck was a mere 6 years old when he started training in the construction business.  Excited to work side by side with his dad, Charlie, on Westhill’s first project in the West Hill development of Bothell; he spent summers and after school hours working on projects and absorbing all aspects of remodeling and custom homebuilding. After graduating from Woodinville High School, Chuck earned his Construction Management degree from Edmonds Community College while working full-time in the field.

Having climbed the proverbial ladder, he has experienced and excelled in every facet of the industry, naturally becoming our second generation Owner and President.

Chuck provides leadership to the entire company, overseeing the Executive Team and all departments, developmentally as well as operationally.

Chuck has a passion for this business and relishes in providing not only a great remodeling experience for Westhill homeowners, but in helping clients to ultimately love the home they’re in while creating long-lasting relationships.

Chuck spends his free time with his wife Pam and children, traveling and enjoying the great outdoors.

Michigan was home for Sue until 1989 when she packed up her family and corporate administrative experience and trekked to the Great Pacific Northwest.

After working for a few years at a marketing firm, she settled into her “home” by joining the Westhill family as Office Manager in 1995. She handled everything from Customer Service and Human Resources to managing the day-to-day functions of the business, covering all the details behind the scenes.

As Westhill grew, her position quickly expanded into Marketing Director and a member of the Executive Team. Sue’s marketing efforts have resulted in features in national magazine publications, as well as local, state and national award winning project entries. She also served as Chair for the Master Builders Association Remodeled Homes Tours.

In her free time, Sue enjoys traveling, sailing and spending time with her family.

Dave Coster

Dave found his niche while strapping on his tool belt and working summers throughout high school and college for a general contractor. In 1994, he knocked on our door and has played a significant part in helping Westhill grow ever since.

Dave is our Customer Service Manager, a member of the Executive Team, and a talented Lead Carpenter. Primarily, Dave initiates and runs our Finishing Touch program at job close out, inspecting each project for quality and taking great pride in ensuring that the standards our clients require are exceeded.  Dave is also the one who delivers our long-term commitment to our clients and stands behind our work to resolve any issues that may arise after the project is complete.

His personal interests include traveling with his family, hunting, fishing and many other outdoor activities.

Kim was born and raised on the East Coast right outside of Philadelphia. She attended Villanova University, obtaining a B.S. in Business Administration/Accounting.

After high school she traveled across the county, finally landing in Seattle in 1989.

Working as an Accountant in the construction industry since 1989, Kim started out in residential construction working her way through to the commercial sector, where she was employed for 9 years. Needing a change from the low bid rat race, Kim welcomed the opportunity to join the team at Westhill Inc.

In her spare time Kim enjoys spending her time volunteering for a non-profit Northwest Boxer rescue, spending time with her family, and spoiling her 4 personal dogs.

Chris Huxford

Working in various trades and before teaming up with Westhill gave Chris almost 20 years of field experience. Attending Shoreline Community College and running his own company gave Chris his understanding of business. The combination is a winning recipe for his success.

Chris is a hands-on Production Manager and a knowledgeable advocate, who has the respect of those around him and the know how to get things done the right way.  He oversees all of our projects and works closely with our Project Managers and field team, keeping the lines of communication open helping each project to remain on schedule and on budget.

Passionate about his work, Chris loves every aspect of interacting with homeowners, helping their vision come to life.

Golf, softball and riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle are his choices for recreational sports. Chris enjoys the majority of his time off with his family. Chris and Michelle are busy raising two terrific daughters and a dog

Dawn Rasmussen

As IT Manager, Dawn helps Westhill keep up with the ever-changing world of technology. Dawn is responsible for all of our technical needs, providing 24/7 support with a smile.

In addition, she is integral in assisting our Sales department with estimates and agreements, as well as managing our database.

When Dawn takes off her “techie” hat, she plays the slots, is an amateur photographer, dotes on her dog Goober, and spends time with her family.

As the daughter and sister of owners Charlie and Chuck Russell, respectively, it made sense that Abbie join the family business. As a small child, Abbie was toted to job sites and spent her formative years working part time in an administrative role with Westhill until attending Hawaii Pacific University concentrating on a Business Management degree.

As an Administrative Assistant, she serves hub between the field crew, subcontractors, suppliers, and the office resulting in great project coordination.

When Abbie is not working she’s spending time with her son, family, and friends. You might also find her reading, traveling, or dancing.

Becoming part of the Westhill team was a natural course of action for Kyleah, as she’s been exposed to Westhill her whole life. Expanding the Westhill family business; she joins her grandfather Charlie Russell and her father Chuck Russell, her aunt Abbie Russell and cousin Wayne Pippin.

Kyleah has done a great job of learning the industry, assisting our team and clients by performing a variety of tasks using her administrative talent. She is working hard, and recently graduated from Edmonds CC in March 2013 with a Business Management ATA degree and is currently working on her Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management and Administration Management.

Outside of work and school, she loves spending time with friends and family.

Cindy is a graduate from the Department of Architecture at the University of Washington and has spent most of her career designing residences and residential remodels. In 1982, Cindy had her first experience working with the Westhill team—the project won a design award and became the first of many successful collaborations. In working with Westhill, she came to recognize the value the team approach offers clients, and eventually decided to work exclusively on Westhill design-build projects..

Cindy enjoys listening to clients’ ideas and interpreting their lifestyles to create the spaces they desire. Cindy takes all of the information along with the site parameters, and works with the planners and building department officials, engineers, consultants, and Westhill’s estimators and construction experts to solve the design issues and bring her clients’ vision to life. She guides clients through the countless decisions required during a construction project and helps them create a cohesive design that reflects their lifestyle and goals.

 

Sarah Steurer

Sarah was born in Woodinville and lived here until she graduated High School. Soon after, she moved to Arizona in search of some sun. While there, she took color and design courses while working as a design consultant for a builder showroom. After returning to the Pacific Northwest in 2012, she joined our team.

Sarah has many years of experience in the home building industry and has a wonderful way of relating to people.  She adapts to the clients’ communication style and finds a way to elicit their ideas and true concerns.  Sarah applies her skill at problem-solving to tackle every situation.

She feels the most rewarding part of her job is working closely with the clients, helping them turn their interior visions into reality, seeing how happy they are when their dream is realized.

Born in Kodiak Alaska, Thor spent many summers fishing with his family before making the move to Seattle, settling near his grandparents.

After high school, Thor’s remodeling career began by performing demo, concrete and landscaping work.  For the last four years, Thor has reveled in doing remodel work.  He loves the finishing touch, making old look new, while giving clients the home improvements they desire.

During his time away from work, you’ll find Thor with his family, involved in soccer, motorcycles and snowboarding, while spending summers in Lake Chelan wakeboarding and boating.

In the summer of 1980, 10 year old Scott worked on his first project.  Side by side, Scott and his father completed a kitchen remodel and a bedroom addition.  That was Scott’s first real taste of his future career.

Right out of high school, Scott entered into framing residential homes.  After accumulating some experience under his belt, he came to work for Westhill from 1992-1993 before leaving the industry to explore other venues.

With building in his genes, it didn’t take long for Scott to get back into framing and home remodeling – where he has been ever since.  Scott has now gone full circle – happily back with the Westhill team.  What he enjoys most is the satisfaction of a beautifully finished project.

Motorcycles and older car mechanics are his off time passion.  Spending time with his wife Tamara, four children and a never ending “honey do” list keeps him busy.

Mike O'Laughlin

Since 1996, Mike has had a passion for remodeling and custom homes. He was first introduced to the industry by working with residential siding, building decks and replacing windows.  From there he joined the Union constructing steel stud framing and sheetrock.  While attending Renton Technical College, he mastered blueprint reading, allowing him to work on commercial buildings such as Safeco Field and the Bank of America Tower.  He then came to the realization that custom homes and residential remodeling was his calling.

Mike’s first custom home project made the cover of the Seattle Home’s magazine. Eventually, he went on to own his own company before discovering Westhill.  He now feels he as the best of both worlds, serving residential homeowners and the ability to spend more time with his wife Iris and their three children.

His close-knit family enjoy camping, biking, hiking, movies and riding bicycles and as well as involvement in their children’s education.

Wayne Pippin

Most of Wayne’s 20+ years in construction have been with Westhill. He climbed the ladder, starting as a crew member, and has served as Project Manager for over 10 years. Wayne’s project portfolio ranges from small jobs, kitchen and baths and major remodels to custom homes.

Wayne likes helping clients through the process of a home remodel, creating both an enjoyable experience and a house they absolutely love.

When not at work, he enjoys fishing and camping, mountain biking and riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle.

Tristan started out gaining remodeling experience as part of our field team, tackling the forming of foundations, framing, insulation, demolition, trim work and much more.

Due to his leadership skills and craftsmanship, he now serves as a Project Manager. Tristan loves his craft and really enjoys working with homeowners.

Although sports of any kind are his passion; he admits to being a little bit of a nerd when playing computer and console games. Tristan also enjoys spending quality time with his family.

For most of us, Halloween has always been a fun day of celebration.  In the Barnum household, Troy and his identical twin brother made it really memorable by choosing it as their birthday.  Nicknamed “Trick” and “Treat” (with Troy as Treat), made for a fun childhood.

After working for 18 years as a welder, Troy joined our Production team, venturing into the remodeling field.  He has been a great asset to our team, quickly learning the ropes.  He likes working in different environments.  Troy takes great pride in making customers happy with the quality of his work and a job well done.

As a Washington native, it’s only natural he loves rooting for the Seahawks and Huskies!  His down time is spent with his wife Kelly, camping or relaxing at their beach cabin on Hood Canal.

Growing up in Snohomish, Travis started in the construction trade at a very early age.  Working for his father, he learned all aspects of construction, by building residential homes.  This experience prepared him for owning his own business prior to joining the Westhill team.

Not only does Travis excel in residential construction, he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Aeronautics from the University of North Dakota.  This earned him a commercial pilot’s license and certified instrument flight instructor certification.

Travis resides in Bothell with his wife and three daughters. In his spare time he enjoys cooking, fly fishing and spending time with his family.

Brian grew up and still lives in the Bothell/Kirkland area.    He began acquiring hands-on experience in the construction industry while working as a framer for a couple of years before coming to Westhill.

Brain has been an important part of our support team since 2012.  He loves working with his hands and feels he is learning from the best.  Brian loves working closely with homeowners to make their homes fit their lifestyles.

For fun, Brian enjoys the outdoors with his dog and playing video games.
